Rise in settlements within 2019 included those compensated to departing tech protection staff shortly before main breach

The financial institution of England paid leaving staff almost £3m inside “golden goodbyes” over fifteen months, at the same time as an exodus of workers from its info security team.

Settlement payments to previous staff surged to £2. 3m in 2019, based on data provided to the Protector under freedom of information laws and regulations. The Bank confirmed that past information security staff obtained some of the payments.
