In 2015, we launched our Vulnerability Research Grant program, that allows us to recognize the time and efforts of security researchers, including the situations where they don’t really find any vulnerabilities. To aid our community of security researchers and to help protect our users around the world throughout COVID-19, we are announcing a temporary expansion of our Vulnerability Research Grant efforts.

In light of new challenges caused by the coronavirus outbreak, we are expanding this initiative by  creating a COVID-19 grant fund. As of today, every Google VRP Bug Hunter who submitted at least two remunerated reports from 2018 through April 2020 will undoubtedly be eligible for a $1, 337 research grant. We are dedicating these grants to support our researchers during this time. We are focused on protecting our users and want to encourage the research local community to help us identify risks and to prevent potential weaknesses in our products.

We understand the individual difficulties COVID-19 has placed on the study community are different for everyone and that we hope that these grants enables us to support our Insect Hunters during these uncertain occasions. Even though our grants usually are meant to recognize the efforts in our frequent researchers regardless of their own results, as always, bugs discovered during the grant are eligible with regard to regular rewards per the particular Weeknesses Reward Program (VRP) guidelines . We are aware that a few of our partners might not be thinking about monetary grants. In such cases, we are going to offer the option to donate typically the grant to an established COVID-19 related charity and inside our discretion, will monetarily match up these charitable donations.

For those of you who lately joined us or are intending to start, it’s never in its final stages. We are committed to continue this Weakness Research Grant program throughout 2020, therefore stay tuned for future notices and follow us upon @GoogleVRP !
